FAMILY NIGHT

§  A SPECIAL VALENTINE’S DAY DINNER will be served from 5:15 – 6:30 P.M.  Let us show our love and care for you by serving you a delicious meal with great company!  Menu:  roast beef, gravy, potatoes, California medley vegetables, salad, rolls, fruit, veggies and dip, ice cream and desserts.

§  FOOD BACKPACKS will be stuffed in the Fellowship Hall at 6:00.

§  GOD’S ANGELS CHOIR (Kindergarten – 5th grade) practice in basement from 6:15 – 6:45.

FRIDAY – February 16

MOBILE FOOD PANTRY will be in the Fellowship Hall.  Doors open at 8:00 A.M. and food distribution begins around 10:00 A.M.  A volunteer sign up sheet is posted by the kitchen.  We need volunteers to help with various jobs such as working in the kitchen, helping with registration, and helping clients carry food to their cars.  We also need baked goods to serve while clients wait in line.  We also hope to finish collecting blankets to pass out to clients.  We are in need of (new or homemade) full or queen size blankets or throw blankets that are large and warm.  Please keep them coming!  We are so thankful for all the donations so far.  We ask that all blanket donations be dropped off on the Fellowship Hall stage by this Wednesday.

NEXT WEEK, Rev. Don Poest will provide our message during morning worship.  Rev. Poest served as pastor of the Brunswick Reformed Church in Ohio for 38 years.  Don was an officer in the RCA from 2009-2012.  In 2017 he was called out of retirement to the role of Interim General Secretary.  Rev. Poest is married and has two sons who are both in ordained ministry.  Don also has two grandchildren.

REV. POEST will also lead a time of questions and answers regarding the work of the RCA during Sunday School time in the Consistory Room.

EASTER FLOWERS are ready to be ordered!   We will be offering 6 different varieties.  They include:  Azaleas ($17.00); Lilies ($10.50); Mums ($9.50); and Tulips, Hyacinths, and Daffodils ($9.00).  Order forms were placed in your mailboxes last week.  Additional forms can be found in the kitchen window.  Please turn in your form to Jerry & Diane Veld’s mailbox by Feb. 25.

ATTENTION PROMISELAND PARENTS:  The Sunday School Promisland kids (Ages 3 - 2nd Grade) will be singing on Palm Sunday (March 25). 

WE HAVE OPPORTUNITY to partner with Jardin de Gracia (www.jardindegracia.com)- a Christian school located in the mountains of Honduras- to show God's love by providing the school children with gifts to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus.  If you are interested in participating, there are plastic shoe boxes with instructions in the Fellowship Hall.  Boxes are due by March 2 to allow time for shipment to Honduras.             If you have questions, please ask Liz Bayci. 

VBS 2018 is coming and we once again need your help to make it a success!  This year’s theme is "Shipwrecked: Rescued by Jesus" and the dates are June 11-15.  We have 10 leadership positions to fill and we need 20 adults and 20 high school age teens to serve as crew leaders.  There is a sign-up table in the Fellowship Hall this morning where you can get more information and also sign up.  Sign up to help us make this year's VBS the best yet!! 

DEMOTTE ELEMENTARY is in need of school supplies for students.  Throughout the year, the school office likes to keep supplies stocked for students in need and unable to afford supplies.  Supply donations may be put in the box in the Promiseland area under the “Fruits of the Spirit Tree” wall painting.  Specific items requested are:  stick glue, crayons (24 pack), pocket folders (plastic), pencil boxes, kid scissors, and dry erase markers (black).

BRAND NEW CHAIRS have been purchased for the Consistory Room!  This means the existing green chairs are up for grabs on a first come, first serve basis.  If you can use them or know of an organization that can, please help yourself.  They are located in the Consistory Room for pick up.  Any chairs not claimed by March 5 will be disposed of.

SCIENCE/HISTORY FAIR:  Please join us on Thursday, February 15, from 7:00-8:00pm for the 6th and 7th Grade Science Fair and 8th Grade History Fair.  Witness the results of the many hours of research and experimentation these eager students have put forth.

   DMC Athletic Program Chicken Dinner Monday, February 26!

   The Chicken Bus Dinner will be held as a fundraiser for DMC athletics on Tuesday, February 28 from 5-6:30pm at DeMotte Christian Grade School.  Since there is no admission fee to games, there is a need for funding the referees for the athletic events.  The Chicken Dinner is one way to cover this cost.  The dinner price is $8 for adults, $4 for children up to 8th grade, and children under 3 years old are FREE.  Included in the meal:  broasted chicken, potato wedges, coleslaw, rolls, homemade desserts, milk, coffee and lemonade!  Carry-outs available.
