SOMETHING EXCITING is happening at the south side of our church parking lot as construction has started for a new pavilion.  Adam Collard from Demotte has elected to build our pavilion as a service project requirement to become an Eagle Scout.  The Eagle Scout service project is an opportunity to demonstrate leadership of others while performing a project for the benefit of his community.  This is a culmination of the Scout's leadership training, and it requires a significant effort on his part.  All materials and labor are generously provided through donations.  Adam is continuing to raise funds for materials; therefore, any donations would be appreciated.  The pavilion will be used for church events such as VBS and Sunday School Fall Kickoff.  Expected completion is spring 2020.  If you know Adam or see volunteers working on the project (usually on Saturday mornings), please thank him for choosing us to receive this project and for all the hard work he and the volunteers he is leading are doing.

PRACTICE BEGINS TODAY for our Christmas Choir!  ALL AGES WELCOME!    We will be forming an all-age choir for the Christmas season.  Practice begins today after Sunday school until 12:00 P.M.  We will be learning two songs and our performances will be December 22 and 29 during worship.  If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Melissa at melissa@demottearc.com.

HAVE YOU EVER WANTED TO HELP at a Soup Kitchen or meet and talk with homeless people?  We have reserved Saturday, December 7 to help at the 1st Presbyterian Soup Kitchen in Michigan City.  We will help prepare a hot meal, serve it, talk with the less fortunate who come and distribute some of the coats etc. collected during the coat drive.  If you would like to carpool, we plan to leave church at 8:15.
FYI: There are fifteen steps to get down to the soup kitchen.  There is a sign-up sheet on your way to coffee if you would like to help.  The organizers request no more than 15 people over the age of 17.  If you have questions, please call Bob & Phyllis Belstra (987-2563).

COAT DRIVE DEADLINE IS TODAY:  Boxes are in the Fireside Room and the front foyer, by door #8, today for your donations of coats, hoodies, sweatshirts, sweaters, boots, gloves, mittens and winter headgear.  Items collected will be distributed between various homeless shelters and soup kitchens in surrounding counties.  If you have questions, please contact Bob & Phyllis Belstra (987-2563).

POINSETTIAS are ready to be ordered!  Every Christmas, we decorate our Sanctuary with poinsettias which can be purchased in memory or honor of a loved one.  After, the Christmas Eve Service, you are welcome to take your poinsettia home.  They are available in white this year and the cost is $8.00.  Order forms are in your mailboxes today.  Additional forms are in the kitchen window.  Please return them to Ann Kikkert’s mailbox by Sunday, Dec. 8.

WE ARE LOOKING for one leader for Children’s Church lessons!  This would be for ages 3-1st grade.  Leaders are asked to teach once every 6 weeks.  If interested, please contact Stacy Hoffman (869-8114 or office@demottearc.com).
