Movement "Forward"
Movement students traveled to the Refreshing Mountain Retreat Center in Pennsylvania for a week in June. Forward 2019 was a time to grow and move closer to God and your calling. All teens learned that God is never content where you are; so keep chasing Him and grow in faith. Each leader shared a personal experience about how they continue to move forward toward Christ. God does not call the qualified; He qualifies the called. Each night, everyone gathered for devotions and worshiped our amazing God. During the week, the teens got to do team building activities and individually participate in challenging activities to strengthen their courage and trust in God. Many of the students enjoyed zip-lining, the repelling wall, high ropes course, giant ladder, giant swing, and of course swimming! Senior, Beth Veldman, shared about how the trip helped her become closer to everyone, she said, “We all just came together to worship and give our all to Jesus. We worked as a team and leaned on each other. It was honestly so amazing and I’m so glad I got the opportunity to go!” Most importantly everyone on the trip was moved by the Holy Spirit. Sophomore, Kendra Zylstra shared about how the spirit moved her, “It’s important for us to let the Holy Spirit use us for things way beyond us and to step out of our comfort zone and do what God is calling us to do even if we are scared.” Movement has taken big steps and looks forward to continuing to make changes to help grow the youth ministry.
